Kanye West gave himself the nickname “Yeezus” as a way of playfully calling himself a modern-day messiah. It is a combination of his nickname “Yeezy”, a slang term for his brand of clothing, and the name Jesus, which West believes symbolizes strength and salvation. West hoped the name could represent his hope to bring people together and spread positivity.
