Kanye West took Taylor Swift’s award away in 2009 during the MTV Video Music Awards because he disagreed with the decision to award her, claiming that Beyoncé had a superior video. He said that Beyoncé deserved to have her win as she “had one of the best videos of all time.” This led to a public disagreement between the two artists, and garnered a lot of press attention.
