Title contenders in the UFC are selected based on an array of criteria including win-loss record, previous performances in the UFC, championship history, and quality of opponents. Fighters must prove that they are worthy of challenging the reigning champion, usually through dominant performances over elite opponents. Additionally, the UFC takes into account the marketability of a fighter when selecting title contenders, as well as promotional and media demand for a certain matchup.
